Allergies
​Please be aware that while your order may not contain nuts or nut products they have been prepared in a kitchen where nut products are used in other products. We cannot guarantee your item(s) will be free from all traces of nuts. All products may contain, or may have come in contact with; soy, wheat, dairy, nuts, eggs. It is your responsibility to inform guests of this allergy information. Gourmet World will not be held liable for any allergic reactions resulting from the consumption of any products.

Design and Consultation
​You may pick a design we’ve previously made, request a design you’ve supplied, or allow us to create a unique design. Although we offer a wide range of styles of custom cakes we hold a standard of quality. If you supply a reference that does not fit our aesthetic we will alter the design to meet our standards.
It is recommended that all consultations for custom orders are done through email. This helps our bakers have a clear written record of all details which can be easily referred to when the time comes to prepare the order. Often details taken over the phone or in person can be forgotten when considering orders are placed weeks in advance. Ensuring we have clear instructions enables us to create the best work of art for your event.

Quotes
All quotes are given after a design has been made. Designs require thought and time to create the best option for the theme, size, decoration and budget. Every cake is unique and varies per event. After the final price is given out for any custom orders, any additional changes or redesigns may incur an additional cost. Please be sure of what you want when placing your order and asking for pricing.

Payment and Cancellation
​We require advance payment for all orders. Deposits are required to secure a spot and full balance is due 1 week before pick up date. If you need to cancel your order please give us at least 10 days notice. If we receive the proper notice your deposit will be refunded, if you need to cancel less than 10 days before your order date the deposit is non-refundable. There will be an e-transfer fee of $1.50 for refunds. If your order has been prepared then the sale is final, there will be no refunds. The date of your final payment is the final date for any changes of size, style or flavours of the cake. Any changes requested after this date cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges.

Cake decorations
​You assume full responsibility for removing non-edible decorations from your cake before cutting and serving. This includes but is not limited to cake toppers, fresh florals, 3D toppers, etc. While some of these may be made from edible materials they typically contain supports such as wires, or wooden dowels for structure which are not intended for consumption.
Artistry
​While Gourmet World makes every effort to provide the decorations, size, and colours you have requested, the creation of your custom item is an art and subject to slight variations. Gourmet World bakers reserve the right to exercise artistic licensure to guarantee the structural, visual, and creative integrity of the cake design. We hold all final say in the decisions regarding final creation.

Instructions for transporting your cake

Your cake or dessert will come packaged in a box or bag

If your cake is in a box with a propped open lid, do NOT close the lid of the box. This was done to protect the cake or decorations that are too tall for the box, by closing the lid you will damage your cake.

The best way to transport your order is in the back of a van, SUV or on a FLAT surface.

Cakes can be damaged if transported on a vehicle seat or on someone’s lap.

In warmer weather please ensure you pick up your order with a vehicle that has working air conditioning and that the car has been pre cooled before pick up. We use real butter which can melt rapidly in a hot car or in direct sunlight.

It is strongly discouraged to have pets in the vehicle when picking up an order.

Driver must take caution, keeping the vehicle level at all times, especially when turning corners, avoid any sudden acceleration, cornering or aggressive braking.

Upon arrival at your destination, be sure to set up the cake and/or cupcakes in a cool display area away from direct sunlight.

Cakes and cupcakes are best enjoyed at room temperature, leave them out of the fridge for 2 hours before eating.

Cutting instructions are included on your cake box.

You acknowledge that once you have picked up your order, Gourmet World is not liable for any damage that may occur once you leave the bakery or during transport, handling, set up or display. Once the order has been picked up it is your responsibility to transport to your event location, not leave it unattended in your vehicle or anywhere outside.

After you or your designated party has picked up your item(s), it is considered “Accepted”. This means that you have looked at the item and you were satisfied with it. If an order is picked up and no design issues are expressed at that time, no refunds or partial refunds will be given. It is your responsibility to address any discrepancies at the time of pick up, giving us the necessary time to make any changes.

Set up for Weddings
​Set up includes unboxing and placing desserts on their respective displays, touch-ups, and final designs. Please ensure any display pieces you provide are on the cake table before our arrival. We do not offer full table design, draping, and lighting. Please have this organized prior to our arrival yourself or with the help of your coordinator/decorator.

Photography
​On occasion we will photograph our custom creations and we reserve the right to use any photographs for display or promotion after the event without compensation to you.
​
Delivery
​We offer delivery within the City of Sudbury only. Minimum order to qualify for delivery is a total $100 purchase, an additional delivery fee applies. Fees vary by location. We are a small business and do not have a designated delivery driver. In order to fulfill deliveries one of our staff must leave during business hours to complete the delivery. Exceptions include weddings or large events, please contact us for more information.

Refund Policy
​Food- must contact within 24 hours with receipt and return of unfinished product so we can determine the issue, if any. Grocery food products will be exchanged or refunded. For in store bakery products, a store credit will be issued if it is determined that we were in error with your request.
Giftware- 30 days with receipt, in original packaging. For manufacturer's warranties, you must contact the manufacturer.

For any e-transferred refunds, there will be an e-transfer fee of $1.50.
