A Fresh Taste on European Gourmet
Gourmet World is a family owned business. The Scherzingers are the third family to own and operate Gourmet world. Originally called Gourmet Foods, the shop was located downtown in the Shopping Center in the early 1970's. In the late 1990's, the business changed hands to a second family, moved to the south end of Sudbury into the Cedar Point Plaza and was renamed Gourmet World. In 2016, the Scherzinger family took over ownership. The family had frequented the shop often with Oma who appreciated the imported German cuisine. When the Scherzingers took over, their daughter, Jasmine, had just completed her red seal as a Pastry Chef. Their son Milo, with his partner, Sharon, came on to help run the shop. What started as a small bakery in a mainly German, Finnish and Dutch shop has quickly grown to three full time pastry chefs with Mary-Ann and Alyssa joining the team. The imported goods have expanded to include foods from the UK, France and Poland as well as some great local treats and even some kosher items. The cafe is a popular lunch spot with delicious unique soups and fresh sandwiches made with deli meats and cheeses sliced fresh in our deli. Popular enough that we added Richard, Jasmine's husband, to the team out front. This family hopes to continue the tradition of offering hard to find European items, delicious and artistic desserts and a warm and friendly atmosphere where everyone feels at home.
